The Roll that Got Away

Okay Charlotte, you have now rolled four times - three in my presence, and I have not witnessed it once.  Sunday, September 29th, your daddy called me on my way to church to tell me that you had just rolled over from your back to your tummy for the first time!

Since then, you have rolled over once in our walk-in closet while I was literally standing right next to you, but did not see.  Once in the basement, where I was sitting approximately two feet away, but missed.  And once in the family room at my feet...I wasn't looking.

Every time I try to catch you in the act you stop.  I think you're doing it on purpose!  So, I suppose congratulations are in order, you've reached another big milestone!  I'm proud of you; you and your sneaky rolling.  :o)

Caching In

Mommy and Daddy have just started a new hobby that we hope to continue to do as a family: geocaching.  We started out with a few quick park and grabs near our house, but this weekend we decided to take you and your sister to the Governor's Mansion trails in MacLennan Park to look for a cache.
With you strapped to the front of Mommy, and Ellie on Daddy's back, we took off in search of "Walnuts or Cache Youse???" (the name of the geocache).
After quite a bit of bushwhacking off the beaten path, we located the container.  You found your first cache little Charlotte!  You seemed pretty excited, but then, you are always happy and bouncing.  I hope you like it though, I see a lot of fun family adventures in our future!

My Eternally Happy 5-Month-Old

This is what I call a delicious ball of dough!  I think Rockne agrees with me.
Your constant smile is such a ray of sunshine in my life, little Charlotte.  You are 5-months-old today and so proud of yourself!  Since the elephant is your sister's favorite animal, and she and Mommy make the elephant noise all the time, you've been starting to make your own version of an elephant.
You don't talk as much these days unless it's just you and I...but I have a feeling it may have something to do with the fact that you can't get a word in edgewise with Ellie around.  :o)  That's okay.  It's obvious that you are taking everything in and enjoying it all.
I love the way you bounce in your activity chair, and how you laugh when you get your sister Ellie's attention.  You two are starting to "play" with one another a little bit more and it's amazing to watch your relationship grow.
You've already outgrown your 6-month clothes, and some of your 9-month clothes are beginning to get a little tight on you.  You're going to catch up with Ellie soon!  You've got one tooth pushing through which wakes you up at night sometimes, but for the most part, you sleep almost all the way through the night!  (Thank you!)
I can never say I love you enough.  You make me smile inside and out.  I am truly enjoying watching you grow.

Tasty Toes

This is how you sit while you're drinking your bottle, with your little feet crossed and your ankles rotating slowly around in a circle.  If you were poolside, this could be a postcard.  :o)  I love your little toes.  It takes all of my will power not to chew those tasty morsels right off!

Got 'Em!

Look what you found!  Your feet are your new favorite toy to play with, and we love watching you do it.
When you grab those tasty-looking toes it brings a smile to your face, and every one else's too!  Plus, it gives Mommy a perfect view of those delicious thighs of yours!  Nibble anyone?

1/3 of a Year Already Under Your Belt

I think I say this every month, but I can't believe you are already four-months-old!  Unfortunately you spent your special day on the road traveling from Michigan back home again.  Before we left, though, your Great Uncle Rog was able to snap this shot of you (the rest of the pictures were taken a couple of days later):
Let's see...stats?  You weigh 15lbs 9oz and are 24.25" long.  You're in the 83rd percentile for weight, and only the 37th percentile in height.  Your daddy and I love it!  Lots of chunk to chew on...just look at those delicious cheeks!
You are such a happy baby.  You laugh, smile and giggle all the time which brightens the day of anyone lucky enough to be within earshot.  You can roll over from belly to back and are getting close to rolling the other direction too.
I can't believe how amazing you and your sister get along already too.  I love watching the two of you interact.  I am constantly amazed at how you watch her every move...and how you put up with all of her antics!
I can't wait to hear your first real conversation together.  Here's a quick clip of the two of you on your four-month-birthday.  (Those of you who watch, don't judge!  Keeping an infant in a car seat for 15 hours without crying is a feat I have yet to conquer.)

Four Great Grandkids and a Wedding

We finally got a Briggs family picture (unfortunately without Daddy) at the reception after Jordan and David's wedding this weekend.  It was a beautiful wedding filled with friends and family, all of whom loved you!
I think you had fun being passed from arm to arm.  I wish I'd have gotten pictures of everyone you said hello to!  They all had smiles on their faces, because that's what you do, you spread smiles wherever you go, Charlotte.  :o)
You also met your second cousins.  You wanted to run around with them, I could see it in your eyes.  At least next time you see them you won't be the youngest great grandchild (congrats to Lauren and Scott expecting number two!).  With all of the energy and laughter in this group, we'd better watch out...I see lots of mischief in the future!
